Common Troubleshooting

HyperCap shortcuts aren't working

Make sure Accessibility permission is granted: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Toggle HyperCap off and back on if it was previously enabled. Restart the app after granting permission.

Caps Lock still toggles caps

If Caps Lock is toggling uppercase letters instead of acting as the hyperkey, make sure HyperCap is running (look for the icon in your menu bar). The status should show "Active." If it shows "Paused," click the menu bar icon and select Resume.

Markdown paste isn't formatted correctly

Make sure you're using the right shortcut for the target app: ⇪+M for Apple Notes, ⇪+R for Word/TextEdit, or ⇪+G for Gmail and web editors. Each generates formatting optimized for that specific app.

I want my Caps Lock back

Just quit HyperCap. Your Caps Lock key immediately returns to its default behavior. You can also click Pause in the menu bar panel to temporarily suspend HyperCap without quitting.

System Requirements

macOS Sonoma (14.0) or later. Accessibility permission is required for keyboard interception. No other permissions needed.
